H-E-B begins construction on new store in Southwest Austin

H-E-B has begun design on a new 103,000-square-foot retail store at the former internet site of the Nutty Brown Amphitheatre in Southwest Austin.

The San Antonio-centered grocery chain acquired the home at Place Road 163 and Highway 290 in 2005. It says it expects to open the new keep in spring 2023. 

The Nutty Brown Amphitheatre, which operated as a tunes venue for extra than two many years, closed in November. Owner Mike Farr moved the tunes location to a web-site in Spherical Rock under the name Round Rock Amp.

The new H-E-B will incorporate Nutty Brown memorabilia through the store, which include crimson brick from the first brick oven used at Nutty Brown Meals, which was a flour mill and sweet retail store.

It will also contain signed guitars from Texas musicians who when graced the venue’s stage. A wall around the store’s entrance will element a mural with classic pictures and pay back tribute to Nutty Brown’s unique signage this kind of as its blue “Welcome” awning and neon cowboy sign.
