The photographer of the year for the 2022 Sony World Images Awards didn’t just take the pics – technically.
The striking black-and-white portraits of migrants on the U.S.-Mexico border ended up truly taken by the topics them selves. Australian photographer Adam Ferguson gave them a remote trigger for his digital camera and told them to acquire the picture each time they were ready.
